Does Blue Sky Training offer exams?
Yes. Blue Sky Training offers BPI exam codes and proctored exams both in the field and remote.
Are the courses online or in person?
Blue Sky Offers both online courses and in person courses with our new training facility in Wellington, CO.
What kind of services does Blue Sky offer?
Blue Sky Training offers training and prep courses along with CEU offerings. Blue Sky primarily trains on BPI certificates and certifications but is expanding to include Radon professional courses and NATE credits.
Building Analyst Pathway
Do I need to take the courses in order?
Yes. Each course is followed by an information-specific test. You will need to show proof of completion for each step of certification before taking the next test.
What courses do I need to take?
Depending on your career goals, your course needs may differ. Common reasons for being a BA-Technician or Professional include access to rebates, code requirements, professional advancement, CEU needs, etc.
Which Tests require proctoring?
The BSP certificate requires an online test on BPI’s certificate portal. This test does not require a proctor and is not timed.
The BA-T (Technician) certification requires a proctored field test. This test can be done with one of the Blue Sky proctors either in person at our testing center or remote if all gear requirements are met.
The BA-P (Professional) certification requires a proctored online test. This can be done in person at our facility or remote assuming all digital requirements are met. Digital requirements include two web-connected devices with a camera and continuous access to an online video call.
What is the BSP?
The Building Science Principles (BSP) Certificate of Knowledge verifies basic knowledge of the building science behind house-as-a-system home performance. Building science demonstrates how various components of a home interact to affect its overall performance. After passing the 100-question online exam with a score of 70% or better, candidates will earn the certificate.
After I pass the BSP exam, am I BPI certified
No, only BPI Certified Professionals may claim to be BPI certified.
The Building Science Principles (BSP) certificate is not a BPI professional certification. The certificate is your first step into the world of home performance. Passing the BSP test does not replace the knowledge, skills or abilities of BPI Building Analysts, or other BPI Certified Professionals.
What is the BA-T?
The Building Analyst Technician course covers the skills necessary to perform a home energy assessment. This includes blower doors, CAZ testing, and whole-home safety evaluations. This is necessary for anyone looking to perform residential energy audits.
This certification requires a proctored field test which Blue Sky Offers in person or remote.
What is the BA-P?
The Building Analyst Professional course covers the evaluation of the data collected from the BA-T. This is required for anyone looking to write reports and recommendations for a home energy assessment.
This certification requires a proctored online test which Blue Sky Offers in person or remote.
How do I keep my certification?
This certification expires every 3 years. To maintain certification, you need to have a minimum of 30 Continuing Education Credits with BPI. Blue Sky offers courses that provide all 30 credits along with further certifications.
Healthy Housing
What is the HHP?
Healthy Housing Principles is a certificate by BPI that provides information for how to provide a healthy indoor space. Covering the 8 Keep-It principles for a healthy home, this course can support any profession in the residential and commercial building space and provide CEUs.
How many Continuing Education Credits can I get from the HHP?
The Blue Sky Course offers 12 CEUs if you complete all the reviews with 70% or higher. If you take the certificate test with BPI, you can receive another 8 CEUs for a total of 20 CEUs.
Prerequisites:
There are no prerequisites to take the HHP certificate, but the HHP is a prerequisite for the Healthy Housing Evaluator certification.
How can I take the test?
The HHP test is an online, untimed test on BPI’s certificate portal. This test does not require a proctor. We offer test codes for the HHP along with our courses.
Multifamily
What is the MFBA?
The Multifamily Building Analyst course is a certification course that prepares building analysts to take and pass the two proctored BPI exams. This certification covers the analysis and assessment of multifamily structures from low-rise to multiple building complexes.
How can I take the test?
The MFBA certification requires two proctored exams. Both tests are online tests with one being a 75 question multiple choice exam and the other being a 50 question picture-based exam. These tests are often taken back to back, and both can be in person at our facility or remote given digital requirements are met. Digital requirements include two web-connected devices with a camera and continuous access to an online video call.
Infiltration and Duct Leakage
What is the IDL?
The Infiltration and Duct Leakage certification covers the basics of air leakage for the building envelope and within a ducting system. This course trains on operation of a blower door and duct blaster for existing homes and new construction along with the codes and requirements for each.
How can I take the test?
The IDL certification requires a proctored field exam which can either be done at our testing facility or remote assuming the gear, home, and digital requirements are met.
Field Enablement
What is Field Enablement?
Blue Sky Training’s field enablement courses allow students to deep dive in key topic areas surrounding building science and assessment. These courses offer continuing education credits and allow companies to take their employee training to the next level.
What is IAQ?
IAQ stands for Indoor Air quality. At Blue Sky Training, we offer three IAQ courses. Indoor air quality 101 is all about Identification of contaminants. Indoor Air Quality 202 covers assessment of the home’s air quality. Indoor air quality 303 goes over strategies for quality control in regards to controlling and purifying airflow.
